About Me

MY NAME is Marcus ShermAN

I was in the U.S. Army for almost 6 years as a Fire Support Specialist (of Forward Observer) in both the 2/503rd Infantry - 173rd Airborne and 3/73 Cavalry - 82nd Airborne with deployments to Afghanistan and Iraq.

In 2011, I left the U.S. Army looking for a little bit more. I ended up at the University of North Carolina at Pembroke and getting a bachelor's degree in Biology with a Biomedical Emphasis.

I was accepted to the University of Michigan's Bioinformatics PhD program in 2015, and that was when my world turned upside-down. As a biologist, I was using computer science to do research. As a hobby though, I have been researching computer science. So I am here, investigating computer science through the lens of a learner.

My curriculum vitae (CV) is available upon request. If you are interested, please submit requests here.
